    Description

Lovely sterling and guilloche enamel 5 1/4" cuticle pusher. It has a classic Thomae hand painted enamel floral with a background color of a beautiful sapphire blue. The enamel is in excellent minus condition-no repairs. With loupe inspection I found 3 spots to report-enlarge photos 2 & 9. Left side top, white speck is a reflection on a 1/32" chip. Go to the same area on the right side and there is an approx. 3/16" oval x 3/32" at widest point group of chips next to rim.  Also left side bottom has  another 1/32" chip.  ALL of the chips are surface with none down to base sterling so when viewed with my eyes I still see blue enamel. The sterling is  excellent with no repairs. There is some of that normal scuff from old formula cleaners and usage. The 1 1/8" long metal blade portion could have been plated originally but if it was the plate is all gone. It is  an extremely firm, steel?, unknown metal and is firm in it's attachment to the sterling handle. The actual blade has an un-even rough edge. Pusher measures a total of 5 1/4" long. Handle is 4 1/8" of the 5 1/4" x 3/4" widest point x 3/8" deep. Marks are on one sterling rim at the top area of enamel - see photo. They read: STERLING, The Thomae Co. hallmark.
The Thomae Co. originated in approx. 1920. It changed it's name to Charles Thomae & Son Inc. in approx. 1946. I found where it was still in business in 2005 and appears later but is now closed. I found info that the Incorporation of the company had a dissolution date of June 30th. 2017, quite possible due to a severe illness of Charles F. Thomae who passed at the age of 87 in April of 2019.
We are seniors and as my husband has health problems I try to only do errands, like Ebay shipping, on Tues. and Fridays.
