Description

A gorgeous antique Gorham Victorian era sterling silver vanity mirror and brush set, late nineteenth century. Both featuring ornate scrolling foliate and floral repousse designs with open shield cartouches. Mirror measures approx. 8"l x 5.25"w, brush approx. 8.75"l x 2.5"w (including bristles, closer to 9"l x 3"w). Their combined total weight is approx. 446g/15.7oz. Overall, this set is in good/fair antique condition, displaying some wear consistent with age, including heavy general tarnish, scattered dents and small dings (most major to the mirror's edge, photographed), some wear to the foil under the mirror glass, and what appears to be a small split in the sterling of the brush's open cartouche - see pictures. Mirror is stamped on side with Gorham hallmarks, "STERLING," and a partially impressed pattern code, brush is stamped on side with Gorham hallmarks, "STERLING 1402M." A stunning pair!
