An attractive 1896 S key date barber quarter graded VG 8 by PCGS. This coin is by far the most detailed coins we have ever offered for a barber quarter graded only very good. We believe it could have easily ended up stored in a VG-10 holder. It has strong full rims on both sides, the "L,I, B,R,T,Y" at least partially visible on the obverse, and carries some darker toning most notably around the rims of the obverse and throughout the reverse.
This key date coin holds a 180,039. However, the PCGS Coin Facts estimates that only 2,000 of these have survived in all grades today. This coin is one of only 105 graded Very Good 8 by PCGS.
